So this is my first time ever writing a blog post, and my first time creating a travel blog & website. This blog aims to share my experiences and stories, from the embarrassing to the downright terrifying. It will also, of course, include the magic adventures that come with travelling.
I won’t lie, I am slightly terrified about starting this blog. Partially because of the potential embarrassment of an awful blog, and partially because of this blog’s ability to potentially change my life. Hopefully, the latter will be the case.
Starting a travel blog was not an easy decision, but something that a lot of thought has gone into. After gaining inspiration from other incredible blogs, such as: Expert Vagabond, Nomadic Matt, Anna Everywhere and many others, I decided I want in on this gig, so here I am.
It has been a more technical process than I imagined. I’ve learnt all about hosting platforms, SEO’s (that’s Search Engine Optimisation for those of us who have no idea about websites etc.) and I even created a logo. Even I am amazed at the inner creative genius I seem to have unleashed. I still have a lot to learn about travel blogging, but there’s a first time for everything and we all need to start somewhere.
Why Start a Travel Blog?
After recently inter-railing through Europe, and a disappointing job rejection, I thought, why not start a travel blog? I’ve read stories of other successful travellers who have turned their blogs into full on careers. So, why not give it a try?
I’m aware this is ambitious, but if you have found yourself reading this, I must be doing something right.
I travel a significant amount when I’m not studying, at least I like to think I do. There’s a lot more of the world I’m eager to explore. People often ask me about my travels, so why not document them for the world to see?
I have so many travel stories, that honestly, I’m not sure where to start. I’ve lived in China, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, taught English in Poland & Romania, and much more. If you know I’ve been somewhere and want to know more, drop me a message and I’ll make it into a post.
Anyway, welcome to WanderWorld…
