I’m Hannah, I’m a Law student at Durham University! I’m in my third and final year of my law degree – meaning I’ll soon be forced to enter the real world, and no more long summer breaks! I’m having a year out after I finish University as no one wants to employ me, cry. However, I’m working on being location independent so I can travel and explore – who knows I might even make a career of it if I’m lucky!
I first discovered my passion for travelling when I was 18. I’d just finished Sixth Form College and I went travelling with my boyfriend & friends. That year I travelled to 5 different places without my family for the first time, all paid for by myself. I realised how easy it was to travel and how freeing it could be, and since then I’ve not been able to stop!
Why not? Unlike many of my peers, I never had the famous ‘Gap Year’ (or Gap Yahhh), but I haven’t let that stop me yet. I have been having what one may describe as, Gap Summer’s, where I travel all summer but otherwise I study and work the rest of the year. It means working whilst I study, but it’s worth it.
Also, who doesn’t want to see the world?
When I started University I was going through a rough time in my life, and with nothing to motivate me I decided to find a challenge. Having numerous health issues and poor fitness, I crazily signed up to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
In September 2017, I successfully summited the peak, albeit 3 hours behind the rest of my team, raising £3000 for the charity Dig Deep. Dig Deep works in communities in Kenya to help bring taps, toilets and training to improve lives and hygiene.
In 2019, I will be climbing Mount Kenya with Dig Deep, so keep posted as I will make sure to post all about it!
